My three-night stay at The Bear felt really special. The room felt cozy, with lovely decor and comfortable bedding. I enjoyed the charming old pub downstairs. the meals were delicious and convenient. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Ronan, who went out of his way to make my stay enjoyable. the hot water was inconsistent during my first couple of days. It would have been great to have hot showers every day without any issues. Despite this, the warm atmosphere and tasty food made my time here enjoyable. I'd definitely recommend The Bear for those seeking a quiet retreat outside Oxford.

Charming family suite stands out with spacious layout and delightful decor that feels inviting. Enjoyed unique wooden steps leading up to the accommodation, even in bad weather, adding character to the place.
Dining experience faced a few hiccups. the menu options were limited on a midweek evening, which felt surprising with the lack of crowd. The fish from the fish and chips came out undercooked, and the field mushroom starter didn’t justify its price given the portion size. One bathroom was missing a mirror, which was a hassle for the ladies, and if you're on the top floor, be mindful not to drink too much—those stairs can be a challenge!

The family suite we stayed in was spacious and charming. The breakfast was a highlight, beautifully presented and a joy to eat. The staff made us feel welcome and were especially attentive, which added a lovely touch to our stay. We even enjoyed a nearby distillery tour, which was fantastic!
My kids wished for more entertainment options for evenings. A family game room would be a nice addition.

The lovely stone building exudes character, and the roaring open fires create a cozy atmosphere. Dinner was outstanding, featuring beautifully cooked dishes, and breakfast was equally impressive. there were too few power sockets in the room, which made charging devices inconvenient. The rain shower's positioning near the bath's end posed a slip hazard, and only one tiny carton of milk was provided, with no clear note about additional milk in the bar.

Charming Stay with Attentive Service
We had a delightful one-night stay. The ambiance exuded charm, while the dinner was exceptional! I highly recommend trying the cheese soufflé. The staff’s warmth truly enhanced the experience. For families, don't miss the outdoor seating with grassy areas for kids to play.

the room was super comfy and spacious, like a cozy little hideaway. the staff were super friendly and really knew their stuff about the food and drink. had a great time chilling by the fire in the bar area too. the food was tastyy, we had the steaks and they were cooked juuuust right. breakfast was delish, full english was on point.
the check-in was a bit slow and we had to wait a while for our drinks. also, some of the outdoor seating was packed and we weren't offered a switch to that really.

Had a lovely stay! The pub's charm, with roaring fires, was divine. Really enjoyed my comfy room and excellent meals, especially the dinner—could've easily camped out there!
But honestly, that shower was temperamental. it could've auditioned for a drama! parking was like playing musical chairs, quite the sport!
